The first option allows the water to turn on and off whenever it senses hands below the faucet. The second option allows the water to run for 3 minutes or until you turn it off. Simply swipe a hand next to the sensor on the side of the adapter to turn the water on, and to turn it off before 3 minutes, swipe again.
