The Situateâ„¢ detection system X accurately and reliably detects tagged sponges with 100% sensitivity and specificity. And it does so in less time than manual counts. The system is comprised of 4 components including an automated body scanner, console, tagged cotton, and room scanner. Together, they detect missing and retained tagged sponges up to 16 inches away in vivo, in the presence of fat, dense tissue, blood, bone, and near metal. And the system seamlessly integrates into existing OR processes. The console and user interface provide on-screen prompts that guide workflow, and generate unique confirmation codes of each scan for convenient EMR entry - during the procedure. This allows OR staff to reconcile any inaccuracies before the case is closed.
