Dry Vacuum

What is a dry vacuum?

Dry vacuum systems suction dental detritus, sputa, and cooling water from handpieces and instruments during preventive and surgical procedures. Filters and pumps are used to capture aspirated substances and liquids present in the suction line before they reach the vacuum pump. The removed debris and liquids can be automatically drained or collected in tanks that are emptied when they are filled or when the pump is turned off.

How are dry vacuums different than wet vacuums?

When compared to wet vacuum systems, dry suction systems consume considerably less water and energy. They also have an improved ability to separate contaminants from the wastewater stream.

Major manufacturers of dry vacuum systems include Air Techniques, Base Vac, Cattani, Sierra, and Tech West.
