Resorbable Bone Grafting Material

Dental implants are considered by many to be the ideal way to replace missing teeth. Sufficient bone density for support is required for successful implant placement when using dental implant materials. Resorbable bone grafting material is frequently used during the placement of dental implants. It may also be used for socket preservation following extractions, to repair periodontal defects, to augment the alveolar ridge, to repair bone defects, and during surgical sinus lift procedures. Some resorbable bone grafting materials release phosphate ions and calcium to promote new bone formation. Dental bone grafts are then created when bone-forming cells attach to the grafting material and remodel into host bone.

Septodont and Sunstar Americas make resorbable bone grafting material.
