Prophy Jet

Prophy Jet is the brand name for an air abrasion polishing system. These systems use specially designed handpieces to deliver slurries of water, air, and particles (usually bicarbonate) at very high speeds to remove bacterial plaque and stains from teeth and to smooth and polish the surfaces of teeth. This system has the advantages of being more efficient, more comfortable, easier to use, and less abrasive than conventional prophy cups or prophy brushes.

While Prophy Jet is a brand name, other manufacturers of air abrasion polishing systems include Dentsply, Johnson-Promident, and TPC.
