A dental mixer is a device used to mix dental materials such as gypsum, investment, alginate, and silicones as an alternative to hand mixing to optimize the mix and avoid errors. A mixer rotates at speeds up to 500 RPM. Most modern mixers also incorporate vacuums to eliminate air bubbles and make the mix even more homogenous, further decreasing errors in the dental cast and impression materials.
