dental laser

Lasers(an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) including diode lasers, carbon dioxide lasers, and erbium lasers are used in dentistry to treat precise areas of the mouth safely and comfortably.

According to the mode of action, dental lasers can be classified into three categories:

  • Soft tissue lasers, which operate at wavelengths between 810-1100 nm and are used for soft tissue surgeries and bleaching.
  • Hard tissue lasers, which operate at wavelengths over 9000 nm and are used for the removal of hard tissue from teeth and bone.
  • Hard and soft tissue lasers, which can be adjusted for either use.

Major manufacturers of dental lasers include Biolase, Pac-Dent, and Zolar.
